Godly men
Godly Men
In 1st Kings 2:2 David speaking with his son Solomon said “I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;” . Few things we can glean from this passage.
- Life is transient. David had reached the end of his life. He now wants to impart nuggets that he feels would help Solomon on his own journey. Where are you in your journey? Q1, Q2, Q3 or Q4? 0-20, 20-40, 40-60, 80-100. (Q1-Q4 of life)
- David obviously was drawing from his wealth of experience before distilling this truth for Solomon his son. We are told in Acts 13:36 that David served his generation, thereby fulfilling the will of God. However, not only did he serve his generation, he was now passing the baton on to his son so he could do the same. As a man – are you serving your generation?
- Be strong! Over and over again we see this command in Scripture. Wether it’s God speaking to Joshua after Moses’ departure, (Joshua 1:1-8) or David speaking to Solomon before his demise. Be strong!
- Show yourself a man. The truth is that there is a dearth of Godly men in today’s culture. What we see from this passage is that being born male does not make you a man. Here David is telling Solomon his son to show himself a man. Question is what are the attributes and qualities that make you a man? Do you have those qualities? How can you learn those qualities?
That is what Godly Men is all about. Serving your generation by Leading, Learning and Loving. Practicing and exhibiting those God Centered Qualities that Godly Men have and impacting their generation for good.
